Wall basket 40cm - Uses

Wall baskets are ideal for giving an instant blast of colour to your garden. Normally used with

• Flowers such as: Geraniums, Petunias, Gypsophila, Hoya, Polyanthus  Begonias, Verbena, Lobelia, Bidens, Busy Lizies, Fuschias
• Also savoury herbs such as Mint, Thyme, Basil, Oregano, Lemon balm, Chocolate mint

Wall basket 40cm - Advantages

• The wire frame is sturdy and will last for years
• There is no need for a separate mounting frame - the basket mounts directly onto the wall
• They are less of a 'bumping into' hazard than hanging baskets
• They move less in the wind than hanging baskets
• Hanging baskets give a great blast of instant colour to your garden
• Equally when foilage is past its best it can be simply replaced with a fresh basket
• A well selected and watered hanging basket can last for the entire summer

How to Prepare a Hanging Basket 

1. Select the correct type and size of basket
   • e.g. a Wire frame, Rattan or Wicker material a 30, 35 or 40cm (12, 14 or 16")
   • Use a Moss Basket Liner to retain soil.
2. Combine with a Water Retaining Mat to minimise the need for watering
3. Choose a good quality compost and mix in a slow-release fertiliser prior to filling the basket.

How to Plant up and where to Hang your Basket

1. Select healthy plants which are flowering or close to flowering
2. Plant the large plants first and then sow smaller plants
3. Plant trailing plants around the edge of the basket
4. Pick a location that maximises the impact of the basket - but try to avoid a full sun or full shade locations
5. Make sure the Wall bracket and bolts are strong enough to support the basket

FINAL NOTE: Water regularly (daily if necessary) - ideally using a long reach water wand - for easy and effective watering
