- Allium christophii, also known as the Star of Persia, produces magnificent spherical flower heads made up of dozens of sparkling violet-purple star-shaped florets. The impressive blooms can reach up to 20cm across, creating an architectural feature in borders while attracting bees and butterflies throughout late spring and early summer.

Allium Bulbs - How to Sow

- Choose a sunny planting location.
- To prepare planting hole:
- Use a garden hand trowel, dibber or bulb planter.
- Depth: Approximately 10cm - 15cm deep.
- Spacing: 15cm - 20cm apart.
- Soil: Fertile, well-drained soil. Improve heavy soils with horticultural grit or sand to prevent waterlogging.
- Plant bulbs with the pointed end facing upwards.
- Cover with soil and firm gently.
- Water lightly after planting.
- Feed with poultry manure or a balanced fertiliser once new growth appears.
- Allow foliage to die back naturally after flowering so the bulbs can store energy for the following year.
- Leave bulbs undisturbed to establish and produce larger flowering displays each season.
