Aquilegia Roots - How to Sow
- It is always best to start your bulbs indoors, in a greenhouse or polytunnel
- Grow in large pots (5L or bigger)
- Once shoots are 10cm in height you can move out into the garden
- All root divisions / cuttings should be treated the same way when planting:
- Soak in luke-warm water before planting
- You can trim back the tips of roots to stimulate new growth
- Prepare soil well prior to sowing
- You can add RHS bulb starter to the base of the hole to encourage establishment
- We recommend adding compost when planting roots
- Remove all weeds, stone & roots
- Choose a sunny location for Aquilegia
- Aquilegia will also self-seed & spread
