Astilbe Fanal Roots - How to Sow
- It is always best to start your bulbs indoors, in a greenhouse or polytunnel
- Grow in large pots (5L or bigger)
- Once shoots are 10cm in height you can move out into the garden
- Happy in partial shade
- Can be grown in most soils including wet & damp soils
- If you have dry soil then place a layer of polythene in the base of the planting hole, approx. 50cm below soil level
- Sow roots as soon as they arrive
- Don't allow roots to dry out
- Ideally soak before planting for 10 minutes
- Water again after planting
- Dead-head spent flowers to encourage repeat blooms
- Divide clumps in Autumn after 3 or 4 years
