Astible Roots - Uses

Astilbe Roots - How to Sow
- Best to start your bulbs indoors, in a greenhouse or polytunnel
- Grow in large pots (5L or bigger)
- Once shoots are 10cm in height you can move out into the garden
- Treat roots with care & do not allow dry out
- Soak prior to planting
- Choose location: Sunny or part shade
- Soil: Damp, clay soil
- If soil is not very wet or is free draining then place a layer of polyethylene in the base of the planting hole, approx. 50cm below soil level
- This will help to retain moisture around the plant's roots
- Water well after planting
- Dead head spent flowers to encourage repeat blooms
- Divide clumps in Autumn after 3 or 4 years

- If possible plant with crown pointing upwards
- Plant roots roughly 5-10 cm below soil level
- Firm in well
