Bio Tulip Specie Mixed Colours Bulbs 10 Pack
Bio Tulip Specie Mixed Colours offers a colourful selection of species tulips, bringing natural-looking spring flowers and seasonal colour to the garden. Species tulips are generally more compact than many traditional tulip varieties, making them particularly useful for rockeries, borders, containers and informal planting.
This Bio 10 pack provides a mixture of colours for a varied spring display. Plant the bulbs in groups for the best visual impact or combine them with other early spring flowering bulbs.
Characteristics
- Plant: Tulip
- Type: Species tulip
- Selection: Mixed colours
- Pack Size: 10 bulbs
- Flowering Period: Spring
- Growth: Compact and natural looking
- Uses: Borders, rockeries, containers and informal planting
Where to Plant
Plant species tulips in a sunny position with well-drained soil. Their compact habit makes them especially effective in rockeries, at the front of borders and around the edges of paths and planting areas.
They also perform well in containers and patio pots. Planting several bulbs together creates a stronger and more colourful display.
How to Plant
Plant tulip bulbs in autumn, with the pointed end facing upwards. Choose a free-draining position and plant the bulbs at approximately two to three times their own height. Allow enough space between bulbs for them to establish and multiply.
For containers, use good-quality bulb or multipurpose compost and ensure the container has adequate drainage. Groups of bulbs can be planted together for a fuller spring display.
Growing and Care
Water after planting if conditions are dry. During spring, water during prolonged dry periods, particularly when growing tulips in containers.
After flowering, remove spent flowers if desired but allow the foliage to remain until it has naturally yellowed and died back. The leaves help replenish the bulbs and support growth in subsequent seasons.
Naturalising
Species tulips can be well suited to informal planting schemes. Plant groups among rockeries, borders, gravel gardens or beneath deciduous planting to create a relaxed spring display.
Planting Ideas
Use this mixed-colour selection alongside crocuses, muscari, narcissus and other spring bulbs for a succession of seasonal colour. Their smaller, natural appearance works particularly well in cottage gardens, rockeries and informal borders.
