Chard Seeds - Sowing Instructions

  • Sow: April to July
  • Sowing Location: Outdoors
  • Can plant or sow directly outside in late Spring
  • Space plants 40cm apart or thin later
  • Harvest: July to November
  • Give cloche protection from October onwards to encourage winter cropping
  • Preferred soil: Will do well in average garden soil
  • Prefers pH below 6.5
  • Protect against slugs, caterpillars & snails
  • Can be harvested for individual leaves or by lifting the entire plant
  • Plants left to die back in winter will crop earlier in spring
