Daylily Roots - How to Sow

  • Sow roots once they arrive
  • Start your bulbs indoors, in a greenhouse or polytunnel
  • Grow in large pots (5L or bigger)
  • Once shoots are 10cm in height you can move out into the garden
  • Ensure they get adequate water by soaking before & after planting
  • Sow roots approx. 10cm deep
  • Daylilies require little maintenance
  • They don't need dead heading
  • They can be divided every 4 or 5 years
  • Best done in early Spring

    • Soak roots for 10 minutes before planting
    • If possible plant with crown pointing upwards
    • Plant roots roughly 5-10 cm below soil level
    • Firm in well
