Dinnerplate Dahlia Bulbs - How to Grow

  • Dahlias can be grown in full sun or partial shade
  • Avoid damp soils
  • Best time to sow: Between Feb & May
  • We recommend to soak the bulbs in water just before planting
  • Soak for 10 minutes
  • Depth: Sow each bulb 3 times the size of the bulbs deep
  • Make sure pointed end is pointing upwards
  • Feed when foliage appears
  • Feed with nitrogen based fertiliser first
  • Then, from July onwards, feed with potassium based fertiliser
  • When foliage dies & turns yellow, cut back the foliage
  • Remember to lift & store your Dahlia bulbs over the Winter months
  • Before the frost comes
  • Lift bulbs & clean off soil
  • Store bulbs in a warm, ventilated location
