White Echinacea Roots - How to Grow
- Best to start your bulbs indoors, in a greenhouse or polytunnel
- Grow in large pots (5L or bigger)
- Once shoots are 10cm in height you can move out into the garden
- Best in full sun
- Taller Echinacea plants will require a sheltered spot
- Soil: Moist but well drained
- Sowing time: Spring
- Sowing depth: Plant bulb 10cm below the soil surface
- Plant with compost
- Then cover with soil & water in well
- Feed every 2 to 3 weeks
- Can lift & divide in Autumn or Spring
- Old flower heads can be removed in Spring
- Stake plants in late summer
Note
- A root is similar to a bulb in that it is a dormant growing point of a plant
- Also Known as rhizomes
- Very Important: Roots need to be kept moist at all times
- Plant as soon as your parcel arrives, or keep moist by storing in damp newspaper
- Soak again before planting & water in well after planting
