- Asses your garden soil to determine it's pH before choosing which plants to grow
- If you soil is alkaline then you should avoid acid loving plants
- But if you wish to grow some acid loving plants then use ericaceous compost
- You can use this compost with your garden soil
- Another way to make your soil more acid is to
- Add ammonium sulphate
- Mulch around plants with pine needles
- Soils in the midlands of Ireland are generally alkaline
- Soils in the south west of Ireland are generally acidic
