- Larger and thicker stakes are suitable for supporting semi mature trees
- Used in conjunction with tree ties
Fencing Stakes - How to Use as Tree Stake
- Position stake between tree and prevailing wind
- Place stake and tree into planted hole at the same time
- This is to prevent damage to tree's roots
- Have a person hold tree & stake
- Use a sledge hammer to bury stake
- Stake should be approx 2 inches from tree
- Stake should be straight and sturdy
- Next plant the tree
- Finally use a tree tie to secure tree to stake
- Screw or nail tree tie to stake
- Remember to check stakes each year and loosen ties as required
- After 3 to 4 years, once tree as successfully anchored, remove the stake
