Fritillaria Bulbs - Uses
- Tall Fritillaria Bulbs make an impressive focal point in spring borders and large planting schemes.
- Its tall orange flower crown creates a striking vertical accent above lower spring bulbs.
- Position towards the middle or back of a border where the crown of orange flowers can stand above lower bulbs.
- They work particularly well with tulips, narcissus and other spring perennials in sheltered beds.
- Plant Fritillaria Bulbs in small groups for a bold architectural spring display.
Fritillaria Bulbs - How to Sow
- Choose a sunny or partially shaded, sheltered position with fertile, very well-drained soil.
- Plant the large bulb approximately 15-20cm deep and allow about 25-30cm between plants.
- Set the bulb on its side or at a slight angle so excess water does not collect in the central hollow.
- Cover with soil, firm gently and water after planting.
- Avoid waterlogged ground, particularly during winter.
- Allow Fritillaria Bulbs foliage to die back naturally after flowering.
