  • Fully Grown Size: 15cm - 25cm
  • In Bloom: January - March
  • Flower Colour: White

  • Variety: Galanthus elwesii
  • Giant Snowdrop
  • Galanthus elwesii, commonly known as the Giant Snowdrop, is a vigorous early-flowering variety producing large, elegant white nodding flowers with distinctive green markings on the inner petals. Flowering from late winter into early spring, it is one of the first bulbs to bloom, bringing welcome colour to the garden while providing an important nectar source for early pollinators.

Snowdrop Bulbs - Uses

  • Provides one of the earliest displays of the gardening season.
  • Ideal for naturalising beneath deciduous trees and shrubs.
  • Perfect for woodland gardens, shaded borders and rockeries.
  • Plant in generous drifts for a beautiful natural carpet of spring flowers.
  • Suitable for containers, raised beds and cottage gardens.
  • Excellent for combining with crocuses and miniature daffodils.
  • Provides an important early food source for bees and other pollinating insects.
  • Returns year after year, gradually forming larger flowering clumps.

Snowdrop Bulbs - How to Sow

  • See our blog on how to sow and care for bulbs.
  • Choose a partially shaded or lightly sunny planting location.
  • To prepare planting hole:
  • Use a garden hand trowel, dibber or bulb planter.
  • Depth: Approximately 8cm - 10cm deep.
  • Spacing: 8cm - 10cm apart.
  • Soil: Moist, fertile, humus-rich and well-drained soil. Improve heavy soils with compost or horticultural grit if required.
  • Plant bulbs with the pointed end facing upwards.
  • Cover with soil and firm gently.
  • Water after planting if conditions are dry.
  • Feed with poultry manure or a balanced fertiliser once foliage begins to emerge.
  • Allow foliage to die back naturally after flowering so the bulbs can store energy for the following season.
  • Leave bulbs undisturbed to naturalise and develop into impressive flowering colonies.
Ordered 2 packs of snowdrops. They arrived the day after ordering! I like the minimalist packaging and efficient service. Got an email to say they'd been dispatched immediately after ordering. Excellent service
These bulbs arrived safely with the rest of the items in my order in a small orange net bag. There are plenty bulbs, and most of them were healthy in appearance, however two are very dead looking which is a pity, so I'm taking off a star for that. Hopefully the rest will grow ok as they look fine. Love snowdrops!
Ordered these for autumn bulb planting both outside and in pots in the greenhouse. Already I have flowers outside in the garden that will hopefully spread naturally.
I do reckemend the seller for good and fast service
All arrived safe n well, will let you know in Spring how they did!!
Thank you
Mary
