  • Grow in full sun
  • Ideally on a south or south east facing wall
  • Can be grown inside polytunnels
  • Full sun gives sweeter tasting fruits
  • Soil type: Free draining, alkaline soils, moderate fertility
  • Can be grown in large containers
  • Choose a sheltered spot
  • Fill planting hole with manure prior to planting
  • When planting, hold plants at ground level & back fill the top soil
  • Ensure each plant is straight & soil is compacted in around it's root ball
  • Level off the soil around the plants

After Care

  • Water plants regularly until plants establish
  • In the first 2 years remove any grape bunches before they develop
  • This is to allow vines to develop
  • In year 3 reduce grape bunches to just 3
  • If dry weather persists, water every 2 days
  • Feed plants in early Spring
  • Mulch up around the base of plants in Spring
  • Check crop regularly & remove any dying or diseased fruits
  • Grapes are ready to harvest when fruits are full of colour, plump & firm
  • Grapes will not ripen off the vine

Cutting Back

  • Prune in Winter
  • Train vine to develop one central stem & several lateral offshoots
  • Cut away any dying or diseased branches
