- Hellebores grow well in shade

- Avoid acidic soils
- Plant with other Winter flowering plants such as Cyclamen, Heathers & Pansies
- Use as in-filler plants between low shrubs
- Looks good in an informal setting
Helleborus Bulbs - How to Grow
- Hellebores prefers a shaded spot
- Sowing time: Plant in Spring, between Feb & May
- Ideally, soak the bulbs in water just before planting
- Sowing depth: Depth = 3 times to size of the bulb
- Sow with pointed end pointing upwards
- Ideally grow in good loam soil
- Add manure or John Innes compost to improve poor soils
- These plants are low maintenance, & require little care
- Water well after planting
- Will benefit from a feed in March & again in August
- Dead head to encourage better flowering
