Hosta Roots - How to Sow
- Choose location - shade or partial shade
- Plant roots as soon as possible after delivery
- Hosta like moist & fertile soil
- Plant roots approx. 10cm in depth
- Plants die down in Winter
- Cut back dead foliage in Autumn
- Divide hosta clumps every 3 or 4 years
- Divide plants in Winter, between August & March
Hosta Roots - Growing Tips
- Hostas can be badly damaged by slugs
- To prevent slug damage consider one of the following control methods:
- Grow Hostas in pots
- Place grit, sand, ash or wool pellets in a circle around each plant
- Or you can place a ring of slug pellets around each plant
