Sowing Time

Hole Preparation
- When planting, dig a deep planting hole, ideally 1½ft deep
- Plant approx. 2" deep to encourage new shoots to develop from ground level
- Ensure roots have plenty of space & soil to grow
- These plants are not suited to containers or limited root zone space
- To ensure a fast establishing plant, add in manure to the base of the planting hole
- Also mix in a small handful of fertiliser
Handling the Plants
- Always handle plants with care
- Climbers can be delicate
- Water plants before & after planting
- Feed plants over the Summer months
- Use a fertiliser high in phosphorus & potassium
- Mulch up around the base of plants after planting
- Don't let plants dry out
Pruning Hydrangea
- This Hydrangea flowers on previous years growth
- Prune in late Autumn - Early Spring
- But when pruning, don't remove too much of the plant
- If you over-prune, you will cut into previous seasons growth & reduce flowering
