Iris Bulbs - Uses
- Compact Iris Bulbs provide one of the earliest bursts of colour in the spring garden.
- Purple Gem gives a strong early purple display and looks excellent with yellow crocuses and miniature daffodils.
- Ideal for rockeries, alpine beds, the front of borders, patio pots and window boxes.
- Plant beneath deciduous shrubs or in gravel gardens where the soil drains freely.
- Group Iris Bulbs with crocuses, snowdrops and miniature daffodils for a colourful late-winter display.
Iris Bulbs - How to Sow
- Choose a sunny or partially shaded position with fertile, well-drained soil.
- Use a trowel, dibber or bulb planter to prepare holes approximately 8-10cm deep.
- Space Iris bulbs approximately 8-10cm apart and plant with the pointed end facing upwards.
- Cover with soil, firm gently and water thoroughly after planting.
- Improve heavy ground with horticultural grit or sand where drainage is poor.
- Allow Iris Bulbs foliage to die back naturally so the bulbs can store energy for the following year.
