Planting Time
- Suitable for planting all year round
- Avoid frosty conditions, where the ground is frozen
Positioning Trees
- Magnolias are happy in full sun or partial shade
- Ensure soil is rich in fertility & organic matter
- Grow in acidic or neutral soil
- When planting, hold plants at ground level & back fill the top soil
- Ensure each plant is straight & soil is compacted in around it's root ball
- Level off the soil around the plants
After Care
- Soak pot for approx. 10 minutes before planting
- Water again after planting
- If dry weather persists, water every 2 days
- Weeding is also essential, especially bind weed which can quickly smoother a young tree
- Keep grass growth away from the base of trees to ensure a faster growth rate
- Best time to prune is in mid to late Summer
- You can take hardwood cuttings to propagate Magnolias in Autumn
- Susceptible to coral spot, honey fungus & grey mould
