Daffodil Bulbs - Uses

  • Provides an early burst of colour from late winter into spring.
  • Ideal for borders, edging, rockeries and raised beds.
  • Perfect for patio pots, window boxes and containers.
  • Excellent for naturalising beneath trees, in lawns and woodland gardens.
  • Plant in groups or drifts for a colourful spring carpet.
  • Suitable for alpine gardens and smaller planting spaces.
  • Produces attractive cut flowers for small floral arrangements.
  • Returns year after year, multiplying naturally with minimal maintenance.

Daffodil Bulbs - How to Sow

  • See our blog on how to sow and care for bulbs.
  • Choose a sunny or partially shaded planting location.
  • To prepare planting hole:
  • Use a garden hand trowel, dibber or bulb planter.
  • Depth: Approximately 8cm - 10cm deep.
  • Spacing: 8cm - 10cm apart.
  • Soil: Fertile, well-drained soil. Improve heavy or poorly drained soils with horticultural grit or sand before planting.
  • Plant bulbs with the pointed end facing upwards.
  • Cover with soil and firm gently.
  • Water thoroughly after planting.
  • Feed with poultry manure or a balanced bulb fertiliser once new foliage appears.
  • Allow foliage to die back naturally after flowering so the bulbs can store energy for next year's blooms.
  • Leave bulbs undisturbed to naturalise and create increasingly colourful spring displays.
