Perlite - What is Perlite?
- Natural volcanic rock
- Crushed and heated to high temperatures
- Filled with porous holes, increasing air content in soils
- Appearance: Small white pebbles approximately 0.5cm in diameter
Perlite - Uses
- Added to compost and soils it provides additional air filled pores which plant roots require for better growth
- Can be used in place of sand or grit
- Prevents soils becoming over wet, by maintaining a certain amount of air filled pores

Perlite - How to Use
- Before use, rinse through water to remove dust
- Mix through any multipurpose compost at rate of 1 part perlite 4 parts compost
- Fill pots or trays to top
- Water soil before sowing
