- Sow: Spring, From mid-February
- Sowing depth: Sow with tip of bulb at ground level - cover with netting to protect from birds
- Sunny location, good, firm & well draining soil
- If the soil is wet, you should grow shallots in raised beds

- Spacing: Sow in rows 30cm apart. Space sets 15cm apart
- Weeding is essential for healthy crops
- Weed every two weeks
- Don't allow the soil to dry out. Water if no rain for 5 days
