Skimmia Japonica Fragrant Cloud - Planting Instructions
Planting Time
- Can be planted throughout the year when the soil is workable and not frozen or waterlogged.
- Choose a shaded or partially shaded position protected from strong winds.
- Plant in moist, fertile, well-drained soil with plenty of organic matter.
- Use ericaceous compost when planting in a container or where the soil is particularly alkaline.
- Water thoroughly after planting to help the plant establish.
After Care
- Water regularly after planting and during prolonged dry periods.
- Do not allow the soil to dry out completely, particularly during the first growing season.
- Feed in spring with a suitable shrub or ericaceous fertiliser.
- Lightly prune after flowering if necessary to maintain a compact shape.
- Remove damaged or dead growth as required.
- Apply a mulch of compost or leaf mould around established plants to help retain moisture.
- Container-grown plants should be kept well watered and protected from prolonged drying out.
