  • Glossy-Leaved Snowdrop
  • Galanthus woronowii is a beautiful early-flowering snowdrop prized for its graceful white nodding flowers and broad, glossy green foliage. Blooming from late winter into early spring, it provides one of the first signs of the new gardening season and is perfect for naturalising in woodland settings and shaded borders.

Snowdrop Bulbs - Uses

  • Provides one of the earliest floral displays of the year.
  • Ideal for naturalising beneath deciduous trees and shrubs.
  • Perfect for woodland gardens, shaded borders and rockeries.
  • Plant in generous drifts for a spectacular carpet of spring flowers.
  • Excellent for cottage gardens and informal planting schemes.
  • Suitable for containers and raised beds in partially shaded locations.
  • Provides an important nectar source for bees and other early pollinating insects.
  • Returns reliably each year, gradually forming larger flowering clumps.

Snowdrop Bulbs - How to Sow

  • See our blog on how to sow and care for bulbs.
  • Choose a partially shaded or lightly sunny planting location.
  • To prepare planting hole:
  • Use a garden hand trowel, dibber or bulb planter.
  • Depth: Approximately 8cm - 10cm deep.
  • Spacing: 8cm - 10cm apart.
  • Soil: Moist, fertile, humus-rich and well-drained soil. Improve heavy soils with compost or horticultural grit if required.
  • Plant bulbs with the pointed end facing upwards.
  • Cover with soil and firm gently.
  • Water after planting if conditions are dry.
  • Feed with poultry manure or a balanced fertiliser once foliage begins to emerge.
  • Allow foliage to die back naturally after flowering to replenish the bulbs for the following season.
  • Leave bulbs undisturbed to naturalise and develop into impressive flowering colonies.
