- Plant the moment they arrive
- Potted plants can be sown all year round
Where to Grow Strawberries
- Best in soil & compost
- Alpines are happy in full sun or partial shade
- Can be grown directly outdoors
- Can be grown in window boxes or hanging baskets
- Ideally grow directly in the ground
- Each plant will require 2 litres of soil to grow
- Ensure soil is weed free
- Add compost to improve growing conditions
- You can also add farm yard manure to increase fertility & quality of the soil
Caring For Strawberries
- Watering is very important especially if you're growing in hanging baskets
- Soil should be moist but not soaking
- Feed regularly. A tomato feed is suitable
- Place straw under fruits as they develop
- Cover crops early with anti bird netting
Cutting & Training
- In Autumn, remove outer foliage to allow light to centre of plant
- Cut back hard in January
- Strawberries spread by runners
- You can split & divide these plants annually
