Tree Stake - Uses
- Provides support & protection for newly planted trees and shrubs for first 2 to 3 years
- Support plants while they settle into the ground and establish a root network
- These stakes will prevent lopsided trees & shrubs
- Staking & supporting small to medium sized trees, standard roses, sapling trees and small to medium shrubs
- Used in conjunction with garden tying tube, galvanised wire or garden twine
- Easier to handle & use than larger fencing stakes
Tree Stake - How to Stake a Tree
- Position stake between tree & prevailing wind
- Place stake & tree into planted hole before planting tree or shrub
- This will allow you place stake without causing damage to tree's roots
- Use a sledge hammer to bury the stake
- Stake should be approx 3 inches from tree
- Stake should be at least ⅓ the height of the tree at time of planting
- Stake should be straight & sturdy
- Place tree into hole & back fill with soil
- Finally use a tree tie or tie strap to secure tree to stake
- Screw or nail tree tie to stake
- Remember to check stakes each year & loosen ties as required
- After 2 to 3 years, once tree as successfully anchored, remove stake
