Tulip Bulbs - Uses
- Tulip Bulbs are excellent for adding strong spring colour to beds, borders and patio containers.
- The near-black, ruffled flowers create dramatic contrast beside white, pink or pale lavender tulips.
- Plant in generous groups, repeated clumps or long drifts for the most impressive display.
- Tall varieties are also excellent for cut flowers and work well among emerging perennials.
- Combine Tulip Bulbs with contrasting daffodils, muscari and other tulips for a layered spring display.
Tulip Bulbs - How to Sow
- Choose a sunny, preferably sheltered position with fertile, well-drained soil.
- Plant Tulip bulbs approximately 15cm deep and around 10-12cm apart.
- Place each bulb with the pointed end facing upwards, cover with soil and water well.
- For containers, use free-draining compost and avoid leaving pots waterlogged over winter.
- Remove faded flowers after blooming but allow the foliage to die back naturally.
- Tulip Bulbs can be left in suitable ground or lifted, dried and stored once the foliage has fully died back.
