- A Naturally Occurring Non Toxic Mineral - Heated to High Temperatures
- It Creates a Lightweight Sterile, Laminated Surface

Vermiculite - Uses
- This product has hundreds of uses across many different industries
- In horticulture it is used in the following ways
- Soil-less Growing Media
- Combined with peat, pine bark or coir to produce soil-less growing media
- These growing mediums will allow faster root growth & quick anchorage of young roots
- Vermiculite is used in growing media to retain air, retain nutrients & retain moisture
- Use to promote CEC - Process of holding & releasing nutrients as plants requires them
- Ideal for hydroponics
- Seed Germination
- On it's own
- Or mixed with soil, coir, compost or peat
- Less watering is required
- Feed seedlings with a weak fertilizer solution once 1st true leaves appear
- Storing Bulbs
- Lift, clean & dry bulbs
- Place vermiculite around them
- Vermiculite prevents mildew & moisture building up while in storage
- Soil Conditioner
- Can improve heavy or sticky soils
- Mix with soil 1:1
- This will create air channels, allowing the soil mix to breathe
- If soil is too sandy
- Again mix 1:1 soil & vermiculite
- This will allow the soil to hold water
- Can improve heavy or sticky soils
Vermiculite - How to Use
- As stated above, this has many applications
- If growing hydroponically just use on it's own - without mixing with soil
- If growing seedlings - mix with compost at ratio of 1:1
