- Tulips offer colour from throughout Spring
- Dwarf tulip bulbs look great in pots or containers
- Ideal when under planting larger tulips
- Or plant amongst dwarf daffodils such as tete a tete
Tulip Bulbs - How to Sow
- See our blog on how to sow and care for bulbs
- Choose a sunny spot
- Prepare planting hole - Add RHS bulb starter to give bulbs best possible start
- Use a dibber, hand trowel or bulb planter
- Sow bulbs approx 15cm deep
- Space bulbs 8cm to 10cm apart
- If soil is not well draining then add a small bit of sand to base of hole
- Fill in hole with soil
- Water well
- Feed once foliage appears
- Cut back foliage once flowering has passed and leaves have wilted
- Lift, clean, dry and store bulbs
- Recommend using a garden kneeler or kneeling pad to protect knees and keep dry when sowing bulbs
