Penstemons prefer good fertile soils
Ideal in well drained, but moist soils
To encourage strong growth add farmyard manure & compost the base of the planting hole
Before planting, soak pot for about 3 minutes before planting
Dig hole roughly twice the size of the plant pot
Handle pots with care
Carefully squeeze side of pots to remove plant
Position plant in the ground so that the top of root ball is level with existing soil level
Firm in well
Soak soil well after planting
Little maintenance required after that point
To encourage blooms, deadhead as required
Benefits from a phosphorus based fertiliser
