Canna Indica - How to Sow
- Requires warm conditions to germinate
- Start in a heated greenhouse in March
- Set temp. to 10-15°C
- Plant out into garden in late May
- Harden off first
- Position in a sunny location
- Grows best in free draining soil, high in fertility
- Mulch around the base of plants after sowingNote
- Very Important: Roots need to be kept moist at all times
- Plant as soon as your parcel arrives, or keep moist by storing in damp newspaper
- Soak again before planting & water in well after planting
Canna Lily - Overwintering
- Plants need to be stored indoors over Winter
- Lift plants once foliage dies back in Autumn
- Keep canna bulbs in pots in compost
- Place indoors in a cool, dry & well ventilated location
- In March / April replant bulbs in pots
- Cut away old dead foliage
- Plant into fresh, rich compost
- Place in a warm spot in your greenhouse
- Water in well
- Plant out into the garden in late May - Harden off first
- Divide larger roots in Spring & plant as discussed above
